After Augustus Ceasar defeated Mark
Antony,  the senate made him the first
emperor of the Roman Empire. Although
he ruled with absolute power, he laid the
foundation for a stable government that
functioned for 200 years.
37-41 A.D.
Although the Emperor Caligula is most
known for appointing his favorite horse as
a consul; he actually began as a good
ruler. Unfortunently, he started to go
insane and numerous bad things.  He was
assasinated on 24 January 41.
70-19 B.C.
Virgil wrote The Aeneid,
Eclogues,
and the Georgics
and was considered to be
Rome's greatest poet.
54-68 A.D.
The Emperor Nero was considered to
be evil and insane.  He persecuted
Christians badly and was even
accused of setting fire to a large part
of Rome.  His reign ended after his
suicide
180 A.D.
Marcus Aurelis was the last
emperor of the
Pax Romana
and Was the last of the "good
emperors"
30 A.D.
Jesus, the Jewish messiah, was
crucified,  and Christianity began
to spread throughout the Empire.
