Where is the Cagayan Valley ?
The Cagayan Valley runs north and south through the center of the island of Luzon in the
Northern Philippine Archipelago. It begins a 5 hour car drive north of Manila and extends to
the Northern tip of Luzon.
The Cagayan Valley is sandwiched between two mountain ranges, the Cordilera Central on
the West and the Sierra Madre on the east. In between the two mountain ranges is the broad
Cagayan Valley. It is a rich land with crops of corn and rice. It also has a rich cultural
heritage. The Cordillera is the home of the Kalingas, the Ifugaos, Illongot, and Ybanag as
well as the other tribal people of the mountain provinces. Because of its geographical
location and the difficulties of travel within the mountains, the communities from the
Cordilleras consider the Cagayan Valley as their center of trade.
